4. This is a disease in which the intake of alcohol becomes a must. It produces various ;symptons in individuals. People who have an urge to take alcohol are called as alcoholics. Though the doctors don’t have a specific reason why people become; alcoholics scientists say it is because people want to escape from tensions, frustrations, worries etc. The alcoholics tolerance for stress is very low and so drinks to relax. There is a difference between drunkenness and alcoholism. Alcoholic can’t refrain himself. It is a depressant not a stimulant. It acts on the control centres of the brain which is the reason for them to behave in a different way. An alcoholic will not be steady and no connection in what he talks, or he keeps repeating the same thing over. He forgets what he talks or does. He will have hallucinations and land up with various types of paralyses. As the brain deteriorates continuously he will develop mental illness. Alcohol irritates the liver when he will get affected with CIRRHOSIS. When a alcoholic stops drinking suddenly his nervous system will get affected. They are put on sedatives. Psycotheraphy ;also some yield. Nowadays there a lot of counseling centres but the person has to cooperate and basically make up his mind to stop drinking. The family happiness is lost and he too suffers.
